Baby African Greys have one of the most unique and wondreful personalities of any pet bird.  Their ability to mimic words and sounds is enjoyable for family members of all ages. If purchased at a young age, African Greys are affecionate and devoted to their owners. Generally a quiet bird in comparasion to others such as Amazons, Macaws or cockatoos, make an African Grey an attractive choice for apartment living.

Things to consider before buying an African Grey:

1.) Attention requirements; the more the bird is socialized at a young age, the more well adjusted they are around strangers and the more at ease they are in their talking potential.

2.) Cage size; should be a minimum of 24' x 24' x 5', larger if possible. The bird should be offered a large variety of toys to keep their interest and to   avoid bordem. Leather, rope and softer woods are a favorite.

3.) Feather dust can be a problem for people with allergies, although their dander is not as heavy as cockatoos. Room air filters are helpful and is generally recommended to not house the bird in a bedroom if allergies are an issue.

4.) Be careful what you say! Just like a child, Baby African Greys will repeat whatever will get them the most attention!
